Characteristics of PE Stretch Film
Tension retention: After the stretched film is stretched for a certain proportion, the ratio of the tensile force to the F-force value maintained in this state for a certain time is the tension retention.
Viscosity: The adhesiveness between the two films in the stretched or unstretched state.
Deformation: The ratio of the length of the stretched film to the original length after stretching a certain proportion.
Elastic recovery: The stretch film will remain in this state for a certain period of time after being stretched, and the ratio of the restored size to the original size after release.
Puncture resistance: Used to indicate the ability of the stretch film to resist needle puncture.
Light transmittance, haze: Stretch film needs to have good transparency in use.
Quality Control and Testing of PE Stretch Film
Throughout the manufacturing process, stretch film undergoes various quality control tests to ensure it meets specific standards for strength, puncture resistance, cling properties and tear resistance. These tests include:
Tensile Strength Test
Measures the force required to stretch the film until it breaks. A sample of the stretch film is clamped between the jaws of the machine. The machine applies a force to the film, stretching it at a controlled rate. The force and elongation are recorded until the film breaks.
Puncture Resistance Test
Evaluates the film' s ability to withstand punctures from sharp objects. A sharp probe is pressed into the film at a controlled rate. The force required to puncture the film is recorded.
Cling Test
Assesses how well the film adheres to itself. A sample of the stretch film is applied to a flat surface. Weights are placed on top of the film to simulate the pressure it will experience in real-world applications. The film' s ability to cling to the surface and resist slippage is recorded.
Tear Resistance Test
The force required to tear the film. A notch is made in the film, and a force is applied to tear it apart which is recorded.
• First, choose an intact pallet that is similar in size to the load you want to wrap.
• Stack the products as close together as possible. Also, ensure even weight distribution, with heavier items at the bottom and lighter items at the top.
• Attach the wrap by threading it through a corner of the pallet and fasten it until completely secure.
• Start wrapping around the base of the load, wrapping at least 3 or 4 turns, and making sure the corners are wrapped tightly.
• Wrap similarly with overlapping layers. Once you' ve reached the top, start scrolling down for a steady load.
• Once all goods are securely wrapped, tear off the end and stick it under the edge of the pallet.
• Once done, check the stability of the load by gently pushing the top items. If none of the items are loose or moved, you can be sure that the furniture is secure and won' t move during transit.
